GRANT WANG

Grant Wang is a rising Sophomore at H.H. Dow High School. He has been taking piano lessons with Mrs. Mair Alsgaard at the age of 8. Though relegated to a small town where competitions are scarce if non-existent, Grant has been able to build up a sizable and challenging repertoire containing pieces such as Rachmaninoff’s 4th Piano Concerto and Liszt’s 3 Nocturnos. He has also achieved level 10 in the Michigan Piano SAT test and plans on taking the final level, level 12, next year. In regards to the clarinet, Grant has been playing the woodwind since the age of 12 under the teaching of Mrs. Jessie Tellier. Over the course of 4 years, Grant was invited to play as 6th chair clarinetist at the 2019 Michigan All-State Band while also accumulating countless 1 ratings at yearly Michigan Solo and Ensemble events. Additionally, Grant was able to tutor and conduct youth in the performance of pieces for piano 4 hands. With his love for classical music, Grant is looking forward to working with students in finding their passion in music.
