MARGARET FAN

Margaret Fan first began taking piano lessons at 5-years-old with Ms. Jane Bastien, and she currently studies with Ms. Lori Bastien Vickers. She has participated in many piano competitions, such as the Sonata Contest and Concerto Competition. During the annual MTAC Sonata Contest, in 2020 Margaret placed 1st in Division 10. In 2019 she placed 2nd in Division 9, in 2018 she placed 3rd in Division 8, and in 2016 she placed 2nd in Division 6. In 2019, Margaret also received the Honorable Mention award for a Haydn Concerto at the annual MTAC Concerto Competition. Additionally, Margaret has completed and passed all levels of the MTAC Certificate of Merit levels, from Preparatory all the way to Advanced Level. She has received high marks for each aspect of the Certificate of Merit Evaluation. Furthermore, Margaret has taken part in the National Federation of Music Clubs from 2013 up until 2018, scoring "Superior" in all the levels she participated in. Margaret has had experience with teaching students as she has partaken in her piano teacher’s summer camp annually and has had the opportunity to teach repertoire, technique, sight reading, and ear training to many students, and she is friendly as well as outgoing. She hopes that the lessons and activities part of the organization, Keys to Success, created by herself and one of her closest friends, Cindy, will give an opportunity to inspire all students to enjoy and love music.
